As a REALTOR® myself, here’s how I would make that decision:
Where am I buying or selling?Your REALTOR® should be an expert in that area.
What kind of reputation does that REALTOR® have?REALTORS® that are referred to you by other people are more likely to be better because they have done transactions with them.Simply put, if someone had a bad experience with a particular REALTOR®, they certainly wouldn’t recommend them; even if that REALTOR® was a good friend or relative!
Look at their marketing; which would include how they market themselves, as well as how they market their listings.Is their website up to date?Do they use video?Are they active on social media? Do they provide staging and use professional photographers? Are their fliers and other printed marketing materials (such as postcards) premium quality or do they look low budget?
Did that REALTOR®, whether you were selling OR buying, offer to have a consultation with you? If so, did they ask YOU what was most important to you during the process? In my experience, most of my Clients find that good communication is #1.
Lastly, pay attention to their stats.These don’t lie, and will present a factual comparison between Agents based solely on the numbers.
