The Fourth of July is FAST approaching... here are some great tips to ensure that you and your family and friends will enjoy this holiday to the fullest!
Safety is always #1! Be sure that there is adult supervision whenever anyone is lighting any type of fireworks; even sparklers can be dangerous and cause serious burns if they are thrown on the ground and someone steps on one with bare feet! Have a water hose handy, and only light fireworks in an open, uncovered area. Also- don’t forget about pool safety! If guests are swimming in your backyard pool, be sure to have someone on the lookout at all times; preferably someone who is NOT texting or drinking alcohol! And, oh yes, don’t forget the sunscreen!
Organize a fun contest such as a “Rib Fest” or “Best Apple Pie” contest! And be sure to have fun prizes for the winners! (Handmade trophies or fun aprons with the date on them are perfect!) Not only is an event like this a lot of fun, but you’ll have your main course and dessert already covered with the entries! A potluck is always great for the sides as well… tell each of your guests to bring their favorite dish to pass. This is the perfect way to add variety to your cookout or picnic meal… and believe it or not, your friends actually WANT to bring something to share! It makes everyone feel like they are contributing. Lastly, ask that all dishes be brought/served in disposable pans or containers! Use paper plates, napkins and plastic silverware as well and cleanup will be a snap! Leaving you more time to relax and simply enjoy the day.
Fly your American flag! There are a handful of holidays throughout the year where you should display your American flag, and the Fourth of July is definitely one, (if not THE ONE) holiday to do this with great pride. Show your patriotism on this day by putting up your flag… make sure it is free of any rips or tears, and always shine a spot light on it at night. Join in on the fun by wearing red, white and blue colors in stars and stripes too… I remember many Fourth of July holidays where I actually made my kids and my husband ALL wear matching t-shirts like me to show our American pride as a family!
Finally, take some time to reflect on all of the freedom that living in the USA allows us as citizens of this great country. With so much turmoil going on in other parts of this massive world of ours, it’s pretty awesome to know just how good we’ve got it right here… Happy Fourth of July everyone!!
Submitting an offer on a home without ever setting foot inside is not new… and now with the COVID-19 Pandemic, it has become more common place for buyers who simply don't want to take any risks. But is this a smart thing to do?
