It’s November… Thanksgiving… lots of food… relatives… weight gain… hustle and bustle… fretting about the upcoming holiday shopping. Whatever comes to mind this month, I hope you can find time to be THANKFUL!
What should we be thankful for? We all have different ideas about this, and can make our own lists of “items” to be thankful for. Here are my TOP 5:
- FAMILY. Whether you are married, with or without kids, have siblings or not; we all have some sort of family that we can be thankful for.
- HEALTH. Too often we take our health for granted… saying we’ll eat better, work out more and take time to meditate to alleviate stress. But the fact is we don’t. We wait until we are forced to take care of our bodies as a result of an illness or accident. Do it now, and be thankful for the chance!
- FRIENDS. You are who you surround yourself with; so cherish your friends, as they help to mold you into the person you are. Be thankful for friendship, its lonely hanging out all by yourself.
- PETS. They give us a purpose in life… something to take care of and to love. They rely on us, as well as give us unconditional love. They play with our kids, and keep our elderly parents and grandparents company.
- A GOOD BOOK. Nothing takes us away to a “faraway place” like a really great read! In this age of instant gratification, a book forces us to slow down and use our imaginations. There is also a sense of completion after finishing one, especially a really LONG one! So curl up with a good book and be thankful for it!
Well, these are my top 5… I’m thankful for a lot of other things too… but these are my “biggies.” I plan on printing out my list and hanging it by my computer to refer to during this month of November as a reminder of what I am thankful for, and maybe I’ll just keep it up for the other 11 months of the year too!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
